Another blog, what the fuck?

No. Not another blog as in “one of the million blogs out there”, what I mean is “why scrap my others and start this one?”

Well for starters, if I treat my identity on the Internet any way like I treat my bedroom closet, I have a tendency to collect too much and ignore the ancient art of keeping things in order.

I have three email addresses, two Facebook accounts, one Flickr account, one Twitter account, one Myspace account, one LinkdIn account, I had two blogs, and not to mention my two portfolio websites. I am just tired of dealing with all the virtual clutter, but I am not ready to buy into an all encompassing solution like Google’s built in tools or Apple’s .MobleMe. So, I am downsizing, relieving myself of such a heavy burden to keep up, or those things that I ignore entirely.

So for fuck sake - why another blog?

Up until now I have had a theory. The more we put into the web the more I proportionately get get out of it. When you start using the Internet, you use it to find information. You can’t expect any more from it than what you can find searching. But over time, the more you put of yourself on the web, the more the information starts looking for you. This is the exact reason why Facebook became so popular. Old friends would find you after you sign up, it’s very simple.

This proportion theory, up till now, is the main reason why I have shared so much garbled personal information online. If I were a mathematician I would have constructed some sort of curve diagram to pinpoint effectiveness of the personal info put online against things that you have gotten out of it. Instead I am left to shitty analogies so bear with me.

While sitting upside down on my couch partially watching the Steve Wilkos show, feeling the blood go to my head, I had an epiphany. My theory is completely flawed because I forgot the very crucial variable, having purpose.

I am not feeding birds on a park bench with breadcrumbs, I am putting quarters into a soda machine. I have to have motive behind my actions online to attain results, just like I would in real life. I can’t just scatter information and hope something comes back to me by fluke. This is the reason for this blog.

In addition to attempt information consolidation, I really want to write when I have a point. Although enthusiastic, I will try to write realistically and not like some bloated ego. Just because I am online doesn’t exempt me from being myself. I have to be explicable.
